Lax practices at same day surgical centers

June 9, 2010

A new federal study finds that same day surgical centers have serious problems with infection control.  Failure to wash hands. wear gloves and clean equipment were widespread.  The study found that 67 percent of the centers which perform such procedures as colonoscopies, had at least one lapse in infection control and 57 percent were cited for other problems.

As consumers – we just do not understand.  Since their business is health care delivery – and it is our health that is in their hands – when will they ever be held accountable?
