Yes, there will still be a free lunch in Connecticut

February 23, 2010

Today, the Public Health Committee raised Senate Bill 270.  Three years ago we tried to get CT to codify PHarma’s own code of ethics.  Last year we had a comprehensive bill that would have banned all gifts – including lunch.  The bill was voted out of committee but was never brought to a vote before the Senate.  Because of the job situation in our state, we have said, great – bring in lunch and your free samples.  We do not want people, in this economy, to lose jobs.  The deli and resteraunt owners last year, joined the pharmaceutical sales reps in successfully lobbying against the bill.  Vermont went back and tightened its legislation  – when Vermont saw the amount of money involved, it was a heads up.
