Where is the hospital board of directors or trustees? When I researched their 990 on Guidestar – they do not even list the home addresses of the Trustees and I could not find how many of them had made contributions to the hospital. Levin, of the patients rights group in New York, agreed that money has a way of blinding hospitals from doing the right thing.
“Hospitals are revenue-hungry creatures and want cash to pass through,” said Levin of the patient rights group in New York.
“Hospitals may hold back (from disciplining) even when there is good cause because doctor X or Y is particularly good, admits a lot of patients and produces a lot of revenue.” Levin said hospitals also don’t take action for fear of doctors suing them for acting too quickly.
