$60,000 Does Not Address Patient Needless Suffering or Personal Costs

December 16, 2009

It has been a while since we talked about MRSA although a lot of our organizational time is spent on creating accountability and transparency in hospitals around the state. U.S. researches reported that on average, MRSA infection can cost a hosptial $60,000. Last month, U. S. researchers reported that MRSA
cases have risen by 90 percent since 1999 and kill 20,000 people a year. Pennsylvania established this figure four or five years ago so I feel frustrated that we continue to spend money on repeating research and not solving the problem. CT Center for Patient Safety knows first hand the human suffering and the personal financial and familial costs.
