They called him names

November 10, 2009

The House of Representatives passed a healthcare reform bill on Saturday that preserves patient’s access to the civil justice system.  They did this despite the repeated attempts on the part of “tort reformers” in Congress to limit the rights of injured patients.

Congressman Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) delivered an impassioned defense of the justice system at the press conference on Capitol Hill. Representative Braley took the opportunity to stand up for patients once again on the House floor. This was not an easy thing to do.  As Bruce made the case for patients’ rights and safety, he was met with name calling and insults shouted by pro-tort reform members of Congress.
